The opportunity
Are you an experienced administrator who believes the world needs creativity? University Arts London (UAL) is recruiting a Development Officer for our Major Giving team, to support the delivery of its first ever comprehensive fundraising campaign.
UAL is a world-leading university for teaching and research in the fields of arts, design, and communications. We are rated 2nd in the world for Art and Design and offer a unique range of courses which annually foster the creative potential of over 20,000 students from across the world.
As a university committed to social purpose, we are dedicated to nurturing creativity as a profound source of positive change in the world. To this end we are about to launch our first major fundraising campaign which aims to harness the support of our friends, alumni, and wider community to help deliver our aim to make the world a better place through our collective creative endeavour.
UAL is comprised of six colleges each with a long, established, global reputation for producing outstanding work: Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion and Wimbledon College of Arts. Together we form one of the greatest creative forces in the world. Join us.
About you
We’re looking for someone with strong administrative skills to fill a key role on the team responsible for raising funds from individuals. This role sits within the broader Development department, which sits within the Social Purpose group.
You are a great communicator, as you’ll be the day-to-day contact for our donors as well as for students who receive support like scholarships and bursaries. You’ll be confident drafting well-written reports as well as letters and emails to our supporters.
You’re comfortable using standard Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Excel. We use a number of specialist systems to manage income including our fundraising database, Raisers Edge, and UAL’s finance software. You won’t need to be an expert at those, but are someone who is confident they can learn new software quickly.
You are detail oriented and organised, capable of managing a busy and varied workload.
You’re great at building relationships with all kinds of people, from donors to colleagues across UAL to students receiving scholarships. You’re comfortable working independently but enjoy working as part of a team.
If this sounds like you, please submit your application, we’d love to have a conversation.
If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Becky Hatch, Resourcing Adviser via email at Socialpurposestaffrecruitment@arts.ac.uk.
