The opportunity
University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for an experienced academic to deliver specialist teaching and academic guidance to students on our BA Theatre Design course.
Based at Wimbledon College of Arts, the BA Theatre Design course focuses on set and costume design, equipping students with the practical and conceptual skills required by today’s professional designers, to prepare them for work in live events, contemporary theatre and performance design.
As a Lecturer, you’ll be responsible for teaching and on-going scholarship on the course and across the programme. You’ll lead a year group on the course, managing, planning and delivering teaching and assessment that encourages student learning and development.
You’ll liaise with the course team to ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet an appropriate standard and quality, whilst also assisting with the coordination of visiting lecturers for specified units on the course.
About you
You’ll possess an undergraduate degree in a subject relevant to theatre design, as well as a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience demonstrated through your professional practice.
You’ll bring expert knowledge and experience of contemporary theatre and performance design practices, especially digital practices, as well as knowledge of the current discourses within theatre design.
You’ll also need knowledge and experience of theatre/performance design within an industry and research context, along with specific competencies in digital drafting and associated digitally based software platforms.
The scheduled interview date is 10/09/2024.
