The opportunity
University of the Arts London is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Support Technician to provide exceptional technical equipment support to our students and staff at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges.
As a Support Technician CLS, you will contribute to the delivery of technical services within the Technical Team in our Central Loan Stores.
In this full-time on-site role, you’ll staff the collections/returns desk during daily set opening hours, accurately maintaining the department’s online database and ensuring that equipment is returned in its entirety and in good condition. You’ll provide general advice to students and staff on how to use equipment properly and safely, administering predetermined policy consistently to ensure an equitable service across our colleges.
Please note that this is not a teaching and learning role. You’ll mainly be based at the collections/ returns desk, where student/ staff interactions are predominantly transactional.
This role carries an expectation of working to a rota across our three colleges (Camberwell, Chelsea, Wimbledon) as operationally required.
Your profile
You will have technical knowledge of specialist photographic/ video, audio visual and IT equipment and accessories. You will be experienced in the use of such equipment. Knowledge of how to troubleshoot a range of equipment issues would be an advantage. You will be capable of fault diagnosis and carrying out regular routine maintenance, under guidance from more senior team members.
Working as part of a team and independently, you’ll have the ability to deal with customer enquiries quickly in a busy environment, ensuring that the experience of each person is positive and satisfactory. Along with a meticulous eye for detail, excellent timekeeping, interpersonal and IT skills are crucial as is the ability to provide oral and written information clearly and concisely.
This role is customer service orientated and we would like to hear from candidates who can demonstrate practical experience of providing great customer service, ideally in a fast-paced technical equipment loan/ hire environment.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact Nicki Szlovak at n.szlovak@camberwell.arts.ac.uk.
Should you have any questions about the application process or require reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Christine Crouch at jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk.
